Another busy week in the studio. Banjos captured in all their glory!! After hefty amounts of throat pastilles, nasal spray and vocal warm-ups (which make us sound like off-the-wall avant garde artistes whooping, brrr-ing and coo-ing – you have to hear it to believe it!), we got our vocals down. Because this album hasn’t been recorded live, as with High Bright Morning and Maudy Tree, we’ve been able to really focus on performing the vocals – we’re really happy with the results.
Ali paid another visit to the studio, only to find himself ropped into providing some backing vocals – didn’t see that one coming did you Ali?!
This week also saw the wonderful Davey MacAuley visiting the studio to add extra layers of piano, electric guitar, harmonium and xylophone to the tracks. A really intuitive player, Davey has given us some great atmospheric sounds which weave into the songs and lift them beautifully.
Paul’s now started the mixing, and everything’s due to be completed by next Thursday 18th September, an auspicious date for another reason too – we need to get to the polling station before we hit the studio!!
