A busy week in Leith for the Flinters this week! Sunday 14th sees Blueflint supporting Kalio Gayo and Junkman’s Choir at Leith Depot. We’re seriously looking forward to this gig! Kalio Gayo hail from the Netherlands and they feature drums, double bass, guitar, banjo, accordion, synthesizer and samples fusing folky themes with rock, ska and a touch of latin and reggae. Junkman’s Choir mix it up with Cajun sounds, sea shanties and they weave the works of Rabbie Burns into the brew. It’s going to be a night of boundless energy! Kick-off is at 7.30pm – 138-140 Leith Walk, EH6 5DT
Heading up Leith Walk, Clare and Deborah make a return to Woodland Creatures Weds 17th May with their Martha’s Parlour project of Appalachian tunes and ballads with a good smattering of original material in the mix too!
And then we’ve got LeithLate to look forward to next month!
We had a thoroughly enjoyable time last night at Biggar’s Clydesdale Folk Club – what a lovely welcoming crowd and a great venue to play in! The only downside was that we didn’t finish in time to grab a fish supper from the renowned Townhead Chippy – gutted! Ah well, it just means we need to make a return trip soon! Thanks again for a lovely evening folks!
Clare and Deborah will be out and about again performing as duo Martha’s Parlour with a gig at Akva Bar on Sunday 9th April. We’ll be performing a set of old-time Appalachian and folk tunes and ballads, as well as a number of our own original songs. See you there!
Just over a week until we head south to beautiful Biggar for our gig at Clydesdale Folk Club Thursday 30th March is the date for your diaries folks! And in a bumper week of musical treats, our very good friends the wondrous Southern Tenant Folk Union play Soundhouse at the Traverse on Monday 27th. Staying in on a Monday night? You’ve got to be kidding! Get yourself along there and enjoy some great sounds!
We’ll be getting out and about around this lovely country of ours with a few gig dates coming up soon and later in the year! March sees us in the rolling Pentland Hills with a date in beautiful Biggar at the Clydesdale Folk Club. We’ll be seeing in May at Dunfermline Folk Club, and ushering in autumn at Falkirk Folk Club!

It was great to kick off the Soundhouse programme for 2017 on Monday 16th January. After a peek at the rest of the programme, there’s plenty more great music to come this year, including the wondrous Southern Tenant Folk Union in March: http://www.soundhouse.org.uk/events/
Check it out and get along to the Traverse – you couldn’t ask for a better start to your weeks!!
The band are raring to go for this week’s gig at Carlisle’s Old Fire Station. Really looking forward to this gig and a return to Carlisle – we have very happy memories of previous gigs in the area; both under our own steam and as a support act for The Proclaimers back in 2012.
We hit the stage on Friday 27th January at 8.00pm – get your tickets!!
